I'm so tickled about all of the stuff I was able to buy for next to nothing at our church's garage sale. I volunteered almost every day last week so I was able to buy ahead of time and pick out the things I really wanted.
I needed a nice curtain rod for Paige's tab top curtains, but have you priced these lately? I got it for $2.50! I bought a second set up electric green sheets for Paige's room. It's always nice to have more than one set not to mention that her daybed has a trundle so when she has a friend stay the night they can have matching sheets. This set of sheets was in the plastic and had never been used and I got it for $2.50 as well. I had just paid $15 for the other set at Target. What a steal. We found a hot pink, round pillow with frise yarn (I may not have spelled that right) for Paige's room as well for $1.
For my craft room I had been thinking that I needed some way to play music in there so I decided to look for a boom box. I found one that had a cassette, CD and radio in it for $5. My husband found a great black bag for work for $5. He had been looking for a new one for at least 6 mo. and couldn't find anything decent for less than $50. I also wanted a ceiling fan for my craft room because it get's warm in that little room. I found one brand new in the box for $10. The bargains were amazing. We bought some toys and books for the kids for less than $1 ea. so that was fun for them. Oh, and one of my favorite buys was a new chef's apron that said "Williams-Sonoma on it for $ .50! Those are expensive brand new so I was so tickled. I had just been saying that I needed another one so that when my favorite apron is in the laundry I have another one as a back-up. My favorite chef's apron has fall colors in a vertical stripe.
We donated some of the kids' clothes and toys to the cause, but our neighborhood is holding a neighborhood wide garage sale in October so I hope to get rid of a bunch of stuff then. Maybe those books from Paige's room. There is a big play kitchen that has been taking up space in the garage as well that has garage sale written all over it. (figuratively speaking) LOL
Oh, and I found a Minnie Mouse dress for Paige and a black headband that I'm going to make and attach mouse ears to. So for Halloween Paige is going as Minnie Mouse with black tights and hopefully red sparkly shoes. I may skip the whole tail thing. Our first costume event is a Libby Lu party the end of this month. Jake is going as a red-eyed tree frog and I'm making his costume. We found a cute one for babies in a costume catalog that I'm using as inspiration. More on the creation of the costume on another post.
